He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Shirk and Edith Shirk (Waite); his wife Eleanor Shirk (Hanson); and his siblings, Theodore D. Shirk and Donna D. Clayman.

He is survived by: his children, Virginia Edixon (Brian) and Norman Shirk (Judy); his grandsons, Andrew and Brandon Shirk; and his pet Lily.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Road, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
