He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Richard Donahue and Nancy Donahue; his uncle Robin Gillespie; and his cousin Mark Gillespie. He is survived by: his parents, Terry Gillespie of Ashtabula and Mary Gillespie (Donahue) of North Kingsville; his daughter Nina Gillespie; his sister Jill McMurray (Steve) of Wilmington; his half-siblings, Cherie Russell of Columbus, Ohio and Jackson Gillespie of Conneaut; his grandparents, Daniel, Juanita Gillespie of North Kingsville and Alice Hart of Florida; and his nephews, Grayson McMurray and Leo David McMurray.

Memorial contributions in David's memory can be made to the Animal protective league or the family to be used for Nina's college fund.
