He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Juliann Barnhart (Conney); his stepfather Stanley A. Tester; his daughters, Stephanie Tanner (Duane), Amy Tester (Travis Arnett) and Beth Lierenz (Adam); his siblings, Cindy Moser (Rory), Candee White (John) and Stephen Barnhart (Lois); his uncle John Barnhart; his father Gerald James Barnhart; his niece Misty Dawn Moser; and his mother Patricia J. Barnhart (Steele). He was also cherished by nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.
