He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Smith and Myrtle Smith (Freeman); his wife Betty Lou Smith; his son Roger Smith; his great grandchild Jacob; and his great great grandchildren, Carson, Bentley and Liam.

He is survived by: his children, Allen Smith (Patricia) of Findlay, Linda Stull (Robert) of Hoytville and David Smith (Virginia Ritter) of North Baltimore; and his sister Barbara Nicholson-Mechel (Joe) of Maumee. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
