He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph M. Smaltz and Elizabeth Tomko Smaltz; and his sister Joan Potter. He is survived by: his wife Carol Uhrin Smaltz; his children, David Smaltz of Warren, Thomas Smaltz of Niles, Joseph Smaltz of Niles, Anne Marie Hanlon (David) of Pittsburgh Pa and Julia Romanus of Raleigh, NC.; his siblings, Kenneth Smaltz (Janet) of Howland and Patricia Gabig (Terry Baumer) of Indianapolis Indiana; his grandchildren, John, Thomas Hanlon, Michael and Stephana Romanus; and his foster daughter Maria Martin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material donations be made to the funeral home to be divided between Joe's favorite charities.
