He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" Hays; his children, Melissa Dulaney (Mark), Richard Hays (Tara) and Rusty Hays; his granddaughters, Brooke (Brian), Jordin Romick (Jared), Chelsea Eddy (Jay), Erica, Lacey Hays, Daralyn (Justin), Quincie and Hennesy Dulaney; his great grandchildren, Slayton, Emerie, Nora, Rowan, Ayla and Holden; and his sisters, Theresa Griffin (Garen) and Rebecca Strickler (Jack). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
