He is survived by: his wife Verna Irene Yost Simmons; his daughter Mary Lou Mattern; and his stepchildren, Dexter "June" Cowan Jr., Cleo "Ben" Cowan (Krista) and Tina Richards. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
