In the vast expanse of eternity, Stephen shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Stephen farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.

He was predeceased by: his son Sebastian. He is survived by: his parents, Jerry Gartside and Carol Gartside (Root) of Newark; his children, Xavier, Maximillian and Zada; and his siblings, Scott Gartside (Jean), Stacey Smith (John) and Shelly Gartside-DePizzol (Marco). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Reed-Egan Funeral Home (141 Green Wave Dr, Newark, OH 43055). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steve's name can be made to the Newark Catholic High School Athletic Association, 1 Green Wave Drive, Newark, Ohio 43055.
