He was predeceased by: his parents, Merl Herron and Alice Herron (Agle); his grandchildren, Robin David Idle and Pam Phillips; and his siblings, David, Lonnie, Rick Herron and Roselyn Strahm.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Herron (Hecht); his children, Mitchial, Neva Herron of St. Marys, Regina, Charles Evers of New Weston, Maurice and Lisa Herron of Greenville; his grandchildren, Jackie Jones, Robbie Bragg, Jarrod Idle, Casey, Brad Lentz, Zach, Abby Evers, Jessica, Luke Moore, Madison Evers, Olivia Herron, Clayton Herron and Julia Herron; his great grandchildren, Alice Lentz, Max Lents, Pete Lentz, Sam Evers, Henry Evers, Opal Moore and Reece Moore; and his sister Amanda Ford of Salem, Alabama..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to EverHeart Hospice in Greenville.
