He was predeceased by: his father Vincent Kaple; his brothers, Bernard "Bud" Kaple and Charles "Tom" Kaple; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Frazee and Dale Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Kaple; his children, Karen Simpson (Blake), Beth Hiler (Eric), Jennifer Shaver (Randy) and Brett Kaple (Lori); his grandchildren, Samantha Pylman (Jake), Jessica Long (Scott), Kelsey Simpson, Katherine Simpson, Emily Burger (Scott), Kimberly Bauer (Cody), Taylor Gwirtz (Evan), Olivia Shaver, Griffin Shaver, Chloe Kaple and Ruth Kaple; his stepgrandchildren, Jenna Maddy and Jake Maddy; his great grandchildren, Jackson, Thomas, Madilyn Burger, Luke, Mallory Bauer, Anderson, Oakland, Quinn Gwirtz and Wes Long; his siblings, Mary Jean Smith, Jan Frazee, Suzanne Lash (Ben) and David Kaple (Heather); and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Kaple and Flossie Kaple.
