He was predeceased by: his parents, Harley Mitchell and Mildred Woodruff Mitchell; his wife Barbara Farquer Mitchell; and his brothers, David Mitchell and Eugene Mitchell.
He is survived by: his daughters, Michele Burdette (Kenny) of New Vienna and Marsha Mitchell of Wilmington; and his grandchildren, Bruce Bartruff, Leslie Simpson, Kaylea Burdette, Desirae Maxwell, Jeanne Mitchell, Casey Lilly (Jason) and Amber Mitchell. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
