He was predeceased by: his parents, Cletus E. Shaffer and Ruth L. Shaffer (Freshwater); and his sister Shirley Savage. He is survived by: his wife Nancy L. Shaffer (Rippel); his grandchildren, Madison 'Maddie Miller of North Canton, Derrek Miller of New Philadelphia and Jamie Durishin of Massillon; and his siblings, Norma Jean Ridgeway, Jane Cotter of New Philadelphia, James Shaffer (Jill) of Dover, David Shaffer (Pam) of Canton and Richard Shaffer of California.
