He is survived by: his wife Wilma Lee Carpenter; his children, Dr. Robert Briggs, Jr. (Heidi) of New Philadelphia, Brenda Selden of Bolivar and Lori Noonan (Keith) of Michigan; his grandchildren, Rebecka Santangelo (Steve), April Pittis (Keith), Cortney Goodwin (Joel), Ryan Selden (Kayla), Stacy Rippel (Tyler), Kason Singh (Maliah) and Nina Singh; his great grandchildren, Brandon, Sloan, Boston, Charlie Pittis, Caden Goodwin, Camryn, Kaitlyn Santangelo, Micah and Harper Rippel; his brother Jerry Briggs (Rita); and his sisters-in-law, Donna Carpenter, Linda Carpenter and Marvella Carpenter.
