He was predeceased by: his parents, John Herschel and Josephine Herschel (Zatorski); his wife Mary Alice Herschel; his son Michael Herschel; and his sister Jean Tremko.

He is survived by: his sons, Jamie Herschel (Lynette) of New Philadelphia, Chris Herschel of Hampton and Peter Herschel of Florida; his grandchildren, Bryan (Caroline), Jessica, Kyle (Tina), Gabriel (Daliah), Kristin, Meredith, Noah and Lily; his great grandchildren, Xandra and Oliver; and his nieces, Cathy, Shayrn and Robin.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either Traditions Hospice or the Musconetcong Watershed Association.
