He was predeceased by: his mother Betty G. Lute (Van Dyke). He is survived by: his father Earl F. Lute of Midvale; his wife Gloria Ann Dessecker; his children, Amber Hobart of New Philadelphia, Garry Lute, Jr. (Deidra) of Dover and Seth Lute (Katie) of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Blake, Eva Hobart, Hank, Clara Lute, Degen and Hayden Lute; and his siblings, Howard Lute (Julie), Tom Lute, Earlene Selzer (Ron), Lola Schwiger (David) and Victoria Shonk (Dale).
