He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles F. Smith and Ivonette V. Smith (Mills); and his brother Charles E. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Sharon K. Smith (Moses); his children, Bob C. Smith of Cocoa, Daniel C. Smith of Camden, OH, Elizabeth I. Smith and Justin Hall of New Paris, OH.; his sister Patricia Bell of Miamisburg, OH; and his granddaughter Lauren M. Smith of Camden, OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
