He was predeceased by: his father Walter Charles; and his siblings, Harold Coblentz, Verlin D. Coblentz, Frederick C. Coblentz, Loretta "Dodo" Brown and Doris H. Coblentz.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Ann Coblentz; his children, LeeAnne Shaffer (John Jr.), Ted Coblentz and Jo Ellen Swihart (Kurt); and his grandchildren, Kim Norvell (Troy), Kristie Smith (Mark), Jason Shaffer (Tina), Jean Duggan (Mike), Renee Ashcraft (Troy), Kari Lee (Derek), Kendra Thompson (Kurt) and Kortney Nester (Brian). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren.
