He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Beard and Elizabeth Lute Beard; his children, Jennifer McMasters Vann, Patricia Beard and Robert Beard; his siblings, Robert Beard, Caroline Gould and Nancy Daugherty; and his close friend Charmin.
He is survived by: his wife Carol J. Holtzman; his children, John T. Beard (Jill) of Poland, Lisa Major of Struthers and Beth McMasters of Abingdon, Maryland; his siblings, Richard Beard of Steubenville and Joanne Deemer (Dennis) of New Middletown; his grandchildren, Rachyl Kos (Tony), Matthew Beard (Krista), Jason Diamantes, Joshua Diamantes, Michael Major and Tyler Major; his great grandchildren, Marcus, Dylan, Ryan, Abby, Matthew, Dominic, Kaiden and Mason; his great great grandchild Nico; and his son-in-law Stephen Vann of Virginia.
In honor of John's lifelong love of the Canfield Fair, memorial tributes may take the form of contributions to the family to purchase a memorial bench at the fairgrounds, or to John's church, Christ Lutheran Church, 250 Sexton St., Struthers, Ohio 44471.
