She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Dean Polen and Mable Marie Polen (Leach); and her husband Peter R. Serich. She is survived by: her children, Ronald D. Serich (Betty) of New Middletown, OH, Scott T. Serich (Christine) of Leesburg, VA and Lynda K. Baita (Scott) of Rochester, NH; her grandchildren, Corinne Baita, Dalton Baita, Evie Serich, Jason Reynolds (Dorothy), Christopher Reynolds (Heather), Janice Baita and Angela Baita; her great grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Taylor, Jack, Nicholas, Makayla, Madisyn, Macie, Elias and Ellana; and her brother David Polen (Kathy).
During her time at Poland Schools, Betty served as the school district's United Way campaign chairperson and received the Poland School Foundation Award for Educational Excellence in September of 2000 and was PEA Teacher of the Year in 1998.
