He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew "Jack" and Dollie Patton (Harvey); and his brothers, Jack Patton, Jr. and Gary Patton. He is survived by: his wife Ruby J. Patton (Spurlock); his children, Brenda Pence (Rick) of Parkersburg, W. V, Lutresa Hohler (Jeff) of Norwalk, David Patton (Cheryl) of Leesville and Donald Patton (Kolleen) of Nova; and his siblings, Goldie Goble, J. B. Patton (Connie) and Lawrence "Dan" Patton (Mary). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
