He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thompson and Helen Thorpe-Brown; his stepmother Jessie; his close friend Wanda Phillips; his grandson Harley Fitzgerald; his great grandchild Ariana Onesko; his son-in-law Gary Groff; and his siblings, Charlotte, Nellie Jo, Virginia, Jim (Betty), Bill (Christine) and Dale Thompson (Gladys).
He is survived by: his daughters, Brenda Groff, Sandra Dalton (Bob), Carla Thompson, Linda Miller (Laymon), Carol Thompson and Kellie Phipps; and his stepdaughters, Rita Heys and Renee Tomlinson (Andrew Rucker). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
