Rosalind Lower Obituary

Rosalind "Rose" Lower, age 77, of New Albany, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at her residence after a six-year battle with cancer. Those who knew her, know she was never one to make it about herself and was a rather private person. However, her passing on New Year's Eve, the biggest reveling day of the year, is very defining of how much her life should be celebrated.

When not working, Rose's life was enjoyed by getting her hands as dirty as possible. She always had multiple gardens, a house surrounded by the most beautiful flower beds all the way around her yard, she also got her hands dirty with years of hooking worms for fishing with her husband while boating. She once even grew a plant outside the kitchen window and planted it just right so it would grow inside into the kitchen of the house.

She wasn't happy if she wasn't playing in dirt, whether it be outside or in the basement planting seedlings under the growing lights for the spring. In addition to her love of gardening, she had a passion to travel. Over the years, she traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and took cruises. It was a passion she shared with her husband to travel and see what was around the next bend or over the next mountain.

She found love in all of God's beauty, whether on the road or in giving back to the earth by playing in the dirt. With her passing, Heaven's gardens just got much larger because the space up there knows no bounds and we know she is planting like crazy. Born February 16, 1942, in Cincinnati to the late Edward and Edissa (Plowman) Rowland, she was a graduate of Hughes High School.

Rose was a retired secretary having worked previously at Quick Air Freight and Celanese Plastics. She was married on April 12, 1975, to her loving husband, Alvin Lower, and is also survived by her son, William Habig, of Perrysville; and daughter, Michelle (Ed Heckathorn) Douridas, of Pickerington; grandchildren, Jessica Habig, Adam (Jennifer Slezak) Sherman, Megan Sherman, William Habig, Brayden Douridas; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Lucas Sherman; brother, Steve Rowland; sisters, Frieda Carrelli and Pamela (Michael) Bales; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Cynthia Sherman; brother, James Rowland; and niece, Andrea Bales. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m on Sunday, January 5th, 2020 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 550 Hill Rd N.
