He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. and Anne Abel I (Halas); and his brother-in-law Jack Payne. He is survived by: his wife Mary Abel (Bilderback); his children, Alison Kirkpatrick (Jerry), Rob Abel (Jane) and Ryan Abel (Hallie); his grandchildren, Liam Kirkpatrick, Ellie, Robby, Maeve and Max Abel; his sister Carole Farmer (Michael); and his sister-in-law Joanne Payne. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
