He was predeceased by: his parents, William L. Collins and Susie L. Campbell Collins; his sister Margaret Eichinger; his son-in-law Robert E. "Bob" Riley; his stepbrother Timothy Tolliver; his niece Mary Jane Gibbs; and his nephew Doug Hickman.
He is survived by: his daughter Carolyn Riley of Nelsonville; his grandchildren, James Patrick "Pat" Riley (Kim) of Nelsonville, Colleen Goundrey (Kevin) of Texas, Michael Riley (Christina) of Louisiana and Erin Riley of Idaho; his great grandchildren, Josh, Sean, Rob, Rene, Rebecca, Megan, Jack and Nathan Erdy (Abby) of Millfield; his great great grandchild Emma; and his granddaughter-in-law Tyra Riley of Louisiana. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Virgil Collins may be made to the charity of choice or the local Humane Society.
