She was predeceased by: her parents, George Whitfield and Zola Whitfield (Combs); and her husband Floyd Smeyres. She is survived by: her sons, John and Jerry; and her sister Melva Phillips. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Navarre or the Salvation Army.
