He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Messenger and Gladys Messenger (Strawser). He is survived by: his children, Jason (Melissa), Thomas Jr., Brian David, Amy (Aaron) and Kimberly; and his grandchildren, Liberty, Lee and Noah.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Washington High School Swing Band.
