He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary; his wife Patricia; his daughter Amy Surbey; and his brother Neal P. Surbey. He is survived by: his daughters, Leah Baker of Bolivar, Laurie Neumann (David) of Navarre and Melissa Callahan (David) of Reynoldsburg; his grandchildren, Alicia Edinger (Jason) of Bolivar, Timothy Callahan (Danielle) of Hudson, Matthew Baker (Katie) of Grove City, Jonathan Neumann of Navarre and Park Neumann of Columbus; and his sister Marilyn Giey (Daryl) of North Canton.

The family has suggested memorial contributions made to advance the mission and ministry of Fohl United Methodist Church.
