He was predeceased by: his parents, Mabel Malloy (Grover) and Donald Starkey. He is survived by: his son Christopher Sherman; his stepsons, Jamie Anderson and Tim Anderson; his daughter-in-law Cyndi Starkey; his friend Kim Legge; his siblings, Becky Lake, Fred Starkey and Jimmy VanAllen (Connie); his sister-in-law Pati Starkey; his son Johnnie Ray Starkey Jr. (Jay); his siblings, Paul Starkey, Jeff Starkey, Danny VanAllen, Bill VanAllen, Nancy McElfresh (Starkey) and Virginia Montgomery; and his siblings-in-law, Dee Starkey, Gwen Starkey, Cliff Montgomery, Charlie Montgomery and Dave McElfresh Sr..
