He was predeceased by: his father Marvin Gruenhagen; his son William Gruenhagen; and his sister Joyce Gruenhagen. He is survived by: his mother Arlene Gruenhagen (Sunderman); his wife Lori Wesche; his children, Alex Gruenhagen, Haley O'Neil (James) and Luke Gruenhagen; his grandson Jack O'Neil; and his sisters, Teresa Weller (Eric) and Karen Johnston (Tim).

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, St. John Lutheran School, or CHP Defiance Area Hospice.
