He was predeceased by: his wife Angelina; and his parents, Vincenzo Sgro and Rosa Sgro. He is survived by: his father-in-law Antonio Scafiti; his siblings, Pino, Anna, Biaggio and Carmelina; his sister-in-law Nancy Tafuri; his great-niece Tiffany; his children, Rosemarie Bartolomucci (Vincent), Frank Sgro (Laurie), Anthony Sgro (Michele) and Lisa Spitali (Vincent); his grandchildren, Crista (Carl), Gino (Cayli), Dominic, Anthony, Nina (Zach), Vincent and Giavanna; his niece Linda; his nephews, Anthony, Steve and Mario; and his caregivers, Dana, Ana, Kristy, Diane, Dijanna, Tracy and Terrin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Victory Church in Tallmadge or St.Anthony Church in North Hill's Akron.

“Having grown up near the Sgro family and watching the hard work ethic of Mr and Mrs Sgro was a gift for our family and community.. The Sgro family had a deep love for God, family and Country (freedom). Mr Sgro was not a big talker but a big time doer. Mr Sgro to me was a kind and extremely humble man.
