He was predeceased by: his father Charles W. Messner; and his wife Gina Messner (McKinley). He is survived by: his mother Karen K. Messner; his son Ryan C. Messner of Kenton; his pet Max; his sister Pennie Oswalt; and his in-laws, Donald, Linda Houchin, David and Jerelyn McKinley.
