He was predeceased by: his parents, John Demmitt and Elizabeth Demmitt (Funderburg); his wife Marcia Brown; and his siblings, Butch Demmitt and Ester Jane Barnhart.
He is survived by: his sons, Nevin Demmitt (Vickie) of Mt. Victory and Scott Demmitt (Linda) of New Bloomington; his sister-in-law Glenda Brown of Florida; his grandson Kaleb Demmitt (Hailey); and his stepgranddaughters, Emily Attard (Michael) and Hannah Robinson (Kyle). He is also survived by great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's honor may be made to the KNRC Activities Fund for the residents or any local veterans' organization of the donor's choice.
