He was predeceased by: his parents, Kellis A. Sutherland and Cornie Sutherland (Edwards); and his siblings, Mitchel "Don" Sutherland, Jeff Sutherland, Sue Deel and Teresa Fravel.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine L. Sutherland (Ruhl); his children, Dennis A. Sutherland (Michelle), Brenda R. Sutherland (Chad Gray) and Amy L. Hindman (Mark); his grandchildren, Allicyn Neff, Brandon Neff, Stori McGowan and Kade Sutherland; and his sister Jane Green (Joe). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
