He is survived by: his wife Phyllis A. VanMeter (Musick); his children, Dr. Jeffrey VanMeter (Beverly) and Jennifer A. Powell (Richard); his grandchildren, Jessica (Rob), Jacob, Julia (Micah), Katie (Dominik), Sheridan (Jonathan) and Nathan; his great grandchildren, Ayla, Theodore, Lily and Everett; and his siblings, Vivian Harvey, Paula Meadows, Patricia VanMeter, Jeri VanMeter, Therese VanMeter, Vicki VanMeter, Wesley VanMeter, Tracy VanMeter, Brian VanMeter, Virginia Ervin, Peggy Kopis and Carol Jean VanMeter.
