He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Schirmer and Clara Schirmer; his wife Virginia Schirmer; and his great grandchild Tristan Schirmer. He is survived by: his children, Vicky Long (Mike) and Rick Schirmer (Deena); his grandchildren, Doug Long (Mei), Ethan Schirmer, Anna Saylor (Charlie) and Angela Haehn (John); and his great grandchild Melissa Schirmer.

Memorial donations may be directed to the church or to the Alzheimer's' Association.
