He was predeceased by: his parents, Coral Long and Libby Nufer (Hershner); his wife Marilyn M. Long; his siblings, Elmer, Galen, Salo, Angela and Sam; his granddaughter Jennie; and his brothers, John "Toad" and Ronald.
He is survived by: his sons, Ron Long (Linda) of Mount Gilead and John Long (Christine) of Mount Gilead; his grandchildren, Heather, Jay (Sarah), Heidi (James), Joe (Sarah), John (Amber), Casey (Erin), Kaitlyn and Colton; his great grandchildren, Aaron, James, Abbie, Emily, Libby, Boone, Emma, Chloe, Olivia, Wyatt, Adriana, Adaline, Amelia and Evelyn; and his great great grandchild Theodore.
