She was predeceased by: her parents, John Gavin and Elsie Gavin (Thomas); and her children, Margery Smith, Lynn Wear of Mount Gilead, John Houpt (Sara) of Upper Sandusky, Mark Houpt (Marie) and Kevin Houpt (Sallie) of Marion.

She is survived by: her husband John F. Houpt; her grandchildren, John Houpt (Claire), Derek Houpt (Jolene), Kelsey Vent (Frank), Erin Williams (Joe), Brian Wear, Nancy Cressey, Robert Cressey, Jennifer Batton (Scott), Janelle Duress (Brian), Kelley Smith, Crosby Houpt (Christina), Allyson Lancaster (Blake), Meredith Gilpin (David), Olivia, Hayden, Sterling, Suzannah Houpt and Ryan Swartz; and her siblings, John "Jack" Gavin (Marilyn) and Ethel Batman.

Memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to the American Red Cross.
