He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn F. Smith and Faye M. Smith (Johnson); and his siblings, Forrest, Donald Smith, Robert Smith, Dorothy Simmons, Glen Smith, Mildred Clay, Lois Smith, Corma Hopkins and Mary Jane Randall.

He is survived by: his wife Carole (Grime); his daughter Sharon Rice (Rick) of Montpelier; his granddaughter Danielle Finch-Harrand (Greg); and his stepgranddaughter Megan Alvarez (Derek). He is also survived by six great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made in William's memory to the First United Methodist Church or CHP Hospice.
