He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Fred, Bonnie Birkhold and Linda Walker. He is survived by: his daughter Riley Jo Birkhold of Montpelier; his parents, David Birkhold and Vickie Birkhold (Walker) of Bryan; his sister Stacy Birkhold (Hayley Diffenbaugh) of Montpelier; and his close friends, Mark Clark and Jill Waters. He is also survived by other family members and good friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Michael's beloved daughter, Riley Jo.
