He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay John and Irene B. Cindle (Poulson); his sons, David J. Cindle and William H. Cindle; his grandson Matthew J. Cindle; and his sister Joyce Foust.

He is survived by: his wife Doris M. Vogelbacher; his daughter Peggy Garrett (Rick) of Montpelier; his daughter-in-law Lynette Cindle of Montpelier; his grandchildren, Dennis Cupp, Jr. (Angie), Jason A. Cupp, Tammy M. Cupp and William H. Cindle, Jr.; and his sister Nancy Phillips (Paul) of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
