He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Donald E. Smith, Sr. (Barb) of Monroeville; his sister Donna Kay (Ed) of Monroeville; his stepsiblings, Cheryl, Duane and Keith; his nieces and nephews, Crystal Smith, Lisa Smith (David Blystone), Bryan Kay and Joshua Kay (Haleigh Collins); and his mother Olive Burlile. He was also cherished by six great nieces, two great nephews, and other relatives.
