He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Poynter and Mollie Poynter (Bingham); and his siblings, James Irsley Poynter, Ada Durham, Edward Poynter and Marie Poynter.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Stephanie Heise (Jerry), Nathan Bahner (Nancy Jones), Ryan Poynter, Rachel Poynter, Emily Poynter and Christopher Poynter; his great grandchildren, Max, Sam and Lilly Heise; and his siblings, Frances McDaniel, Glenda Green, Loretta Horn (Jim) and Jack Poynter (Pernie).
