He was predeceased by: his father Howard Sr. Burkert; and his brother Billy. He is survived by: his mother Darlene Burkert (Brown); his wife Sherri (Eyre); his daughter Katie; his sisters, Julie (Rich Zablocki) and Virginia Ulch (Frank); and his pets, Claire, Susie and Pip. He is also survived by aunts and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, a fund is being set up for Katies education at Citizens Bank.
