He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Heinemann and Margaret Heinemann (Peters); his son Donald Heinemann II; and his sister Janet Long. He is survived by: his wife Darlene Vollmar; his son Gary Heinemann Sr. (Robin) of Swanton; his siblings, Jerry Heinemann of Modesto and Bernice Poorman of Tampa; and his grandchildren, Joshua Heinemann (Shannon) of Delta, Erika Kunar (Josh) of Delta, Joseph Heinemann (Melissa) of Wauseon, Lydia, Nathan Heinemann of Valley City, Mandi Stinehelfer (Jeremy) of Swanton, Sarah Hall (Lonnie) of Swanton and Gary Heinemann Jr. of Swanton. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
