The memory of Walter R. Heitkamp of Minster, Ohio, who passed away on January 22, 2025 at the age of 86, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Heitkamp and Clara Heitkamp (Bruns); his wife Rita M. Schulte; his daughter-in-law Faye Heitkamp; his siblings, Wilbur Heitkamp, Marvin Heitkamp Roger Heitkamp, Gerald Heitkamp, Roseanne Holthaus, Irene Ballard and Norma Keller; and his siblings-in-law, Pete Holthaus, Joe Ballard, Mary Heitkamp, Sara Heitkamp, Marvin Schulte and Bill Moore.
He is survived by: his children, Karen, Mike Long, Ron Heitkamp, Chris Heitkamp, Teresa, Steve Prenger, Ryan Heitkamp, Columbus and Craig Heitkamp; his grandchildren, Mitch Long, Celina, Emily Long Rayfield, Hunter Rayfield, Columbus, Josh Heitkamp, Noah Heitkamp, Spencer, Tyler, Alayna and Evan Prenger; his great grandchildren, Izzy and Mack Long; his brother Ernie Heitkamp; his sister-in-law Margie Heitkamp (Sidney); and his in-laws, Mary, Pat Cogan, Jane Moore, New Bremen, Ken, Sharon Schulte, Celina, Jerry and Chris Schulte. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home (61 S Hanover St, Minster, OH 45865). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8533 OH-119, Maria Stein, OH 45860). A burial was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at the St. John Cemetery.
