He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Sommers and Clara Sommers (Slabaugh); and his siblings, John, Andrew, Willis, Walter, Wallace, Ben, Irma and Lydia.
He is survived by: his wife Keturah; his children, Brenda Miller (Mark) of Homeworth, OH, David Sommers (Yvonne), Ruth Ann Shenk (Jonny), James Sommers (Kristy), Dorcas Gingerich (Joel) and Leah Miller (Vernon Jr); his sisters, Catherine Unruh Troyer and Mary Ellen Coblentz; and his sisters-in-law, Judy Sommers Overholt, Mabel Sommers and Betty Sommers. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren.
