It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James C. Birney (Minerva, Ohio), born in Malvern, Ohio, who passed away on May 9, 2020, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Dan Birney and Pearl Birney (Davy); his siblings, Charity Stamm, Eleanor Venables, Catherine Morris and John Birney; and his grandson Daniel Lee Duvall.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Birney (Shields); his children, Robert Birney of Louisville, Janice Garling (Steve) of Winston-Salem, NC, Joanne Duvall (Harry) of Minerva and David Birney of Mill Valley, CA; his sister Sarah Hatch of Hubbard; his grandchildren, Julie Garling, Eric Garling, Jacqueline Moore (Brian) and Adam Duvall (Jenny); and his great grandchildren, Logan Moore and Dakota Delong.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Minerva First Christian Church or the Alliance-Aultman Hospice.
