He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Whittaker and Mildred Whittaker (Chambers); his son Donald L. Whittaker; and his siblings, Thomas, Betty, Ralph, Glen Whittaker and Georgetta Leonhart.

He is survived by: his wife Betty Mae Bowman; his children, Patricia Meszaros (Mark), Brian Whittaker (Denise) and Keith Whittaker (Donna); his sister Connie Mowery (Ken); and his grandchildren, Misty Teteris (Mikelis), Kevin Whittaker, Angela Whittaker (Chad Marsh), Tony Meszaros (Megan McBride), Michael Meszaros and Joey Kazear (Megan Copenhaver).
