She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Krumlauf and Alice Krumlauf (McElroy); and her siblings, Ernie, George, John, Mary Finck, Barbara Kover, Ruth Keenan, Margaret Krumlauf (Diane), Pauline Sweeney and Leah Hemmer.

She is survived by: her husband Bert Severance Jr.; her children, Mark Severance (Kathy) of Millersport, Dean Severance (Karen) of Millersport and Julie Bruckelmeyer (Mike) of Millersport; her grandchildren, Michael Severance (Crystal), Mitchell Severance (Kaylee), Nicholas Bruckelmeyer (Andrea), David Bruckelmeyer (Amanda Desimowich), Elyse Sayre (Bryan), Evan Bruckelmeyer (Home Town), Jeff Matthews (Suzanne) and Jenni May-Matthews (Lori); and her great grandchildren, Emily, Clair of Gryffen, CJ, Payslee, Vivee, Emerson, Harper, Hudson and Emmett. She is also survived by many neighbors and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Joanne repeatedly requested donations be given in her honor to the Little Blessings Preschool at the Millersport United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 296 Millersport, OH 43046).
