He was predeceased by: his parents, James Spain and Grace Spain (Stubbs); and his sisters, Donna Spain and Delores Simpson. He is survived by: his wife Christine Spain (Stayrook); his son Jim Spain (Ann) of East Liberty, Ohio; and his granddaughters, Angela Grose (Jeff), Cynthia Wills (Eric), Tabitha Jenkins (Anthony), Amber King (Shannon), Maryann McGill (Dan) and Krista Winn (Jonathan). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandson and several brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
